Change your car with Carwow: Thanks to @PetersenMuseum for organising this race! It’s time for another all-American showdown! We’ve got our hands on a 2006 Ford GT, and it’s facing off against a 1992 original Dodge Viper! The question is, which of these all-American legends will cross the finish line first? Well for starters, let’s check out the stats. Mat’s lining up in the Ford GT, and it’s powered by a 5.4-litre supercharged V8. This can deliver 560hp & 680Nm of torque, and power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s the heaviest car here, mind, tipping the scales at 1,580kg. Next up we have the Dodge Viper. It’s a pre-production model of the first generation Viper, but it’s still packing an 8-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can put down 400hp and 630Nm! This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 6-speed manual, and it’s also a fair bit lighter than the GT, weighing in at 1,490kg. So the Ford is up on power, but the Viper has the weight advantage! But will the GT’s extra power prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
